:: ประวัติย่อ ::
ออกัสนั้นได้ร่วมงานกับเบอร์ตันครั้งแรกจากภาพยนตร์เรื่อง Big Fish ซึ่งทำให้เขาได้รับการเสนอชื่อเข้ารับรางวัลสำหรับ Best Adapted Screenplay จาก BAFTA และจาก The Broadcast Film Critics Association สำหรับการดัดแปลงนิยายของ เดเนียล วอลเลซเรื่อง Big Fish, A Story of Mythic Proportion และไม่นานกว่านั้นอีก ออกัสยังได้เขียนบทภาพยนตร์ให้กับทิม เบอร์ตันที่ประสบความสำเร็จเป็นอย่างมากคือเรื่อง Charlie and the Chocolate Factory โดยดัดแปลงจากนิยายคลาสิคแสนรักของ โรล์ด ดาห์ล
ออกัสเขียนและได้ร่วมอำนวยการสร้างภาพยนตร์เรื่อง Go ซึ่งได้ออกฉายในงานเทศกาลภาพยนตร์ Sundance Film Festival ปี 1999 และตั้งแต่นั้นผลงานการเขียนของเขายังได้รวมไปถึงเรื่อง Charlie’s Angels เรื่อง Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle และเรื่อง Titan A.E.
ผลงานอีกหลายโปรเจ็คของออกัสยังรวมไปถึงภาพยนตร์ดัดแปลงของเอ็ดก้าร์ ไรซ์ เบอร์โรห์เรื่อง Tarzan เขายังเป็นผู้อำนวยการสร้างบริหารให้กับภาพยนตร์เรื่อง Prince of Persia ซึ่งมาจากการดัดแปลงวิดีโอเกมส์ขายดีของดีสนีย์
เขาเกิดและโตใน โบล์ดเดอร์ โคโรลาโด ออกัสได้รับปริญญาทางวารสารศาสตร์จากมหาวิทยาลัย Drake University ในไอโอว่าและ ปริญญาโท MFA ทางด้านภาพยนตร์จาก Peter Stark Producing Program ที่ USC เขาได้รับมอบหมายให้เป็นที่ปรึกษาทางด้านการสร้างสรรค์อยู่เสมอ ๆ ให้กับสถาบัน Sundance Screenwriting Institute และยังได้เปิดเวบไซด์เพื่อตอบปัญหาให้กับผู้ที่เริ่มเขียนบทภาพยนตร์ที่ johnaugust.com
