ไดแอน คีตัน เป็นชาวแคลิฟอร์เนีย ซึ่งเธอก็ได้เข้าเรียนทางด้านการละครจากวิทยาลัย ซานต้า อานา ก่อนจะหยุดเพื่อไปเรียนต่อที่ เนบอฮูด เพลย์เฮาส์ ในนิวยอร์ค หลังจากได้ปรากฏตัวใน ซัมเมอร์ สต็อค อยู่หลายเดีอน เธอก็ได้แสดงบนเวทีเป็นครั้งแรกในการแสดงละครเพลงบอร์ดเวย์ เรื่อง "Hair" เป็นการแสดงแทนในบทนำ ไดแอนได้ตั้งใจกับมันมากและไม่มีการโยกย้ายอะไรแม้แต่เสื้อผ้าของเธอ
