:: ประวัติย่อ :: อลันเคยแต่งงานกับ ฮิลลารี่ ลีออน ในปี 1985 ถึง 1993 แต่ปัจจุบันได้หย่าร้างกับภรรยาของเขาแล้ว
อลันเรียนจบจากสถานบันดนตรีและการละคร โรยัล สก็อตติช อคาเดมี่ และเขายังได้รับรางวัลชนะเลิศ กอร์ดอน บอตทอมลี่ อวอล์ด อีกด้วย
เขาเคยได้รับการเสนอชื่อเข้าชิงรางวัล ลอเรนซ์ โอลิเวอร์ อวอร์ด ในภาพยนตร์เรื่อง The Conquest of the South Pole ในปี 1988
เขาได้รับรางวัลชนะเลิศ ลอเรนซ์ โอลิเวอร์ อวอร์ด จากเรื่อง Accidental Death of an Anarchist ในปี 1991 และอีกหลายๆ รางวัลที่เขาได้รับการเสนอชื่อเข้าชิงรางวัล ในปี 1992, 1993 และ 1994
อลันยังเป็น1 ใน 100 รายชื่อของผู้ที่สร้างสรรค์งานบันเทิงของโลกในปี 1998 แล้วก็ยังเป็นหนึ่งในหนุ่มๆ Man of the Year ของนิตยสาร GQ ในปี 2001 อีกด้วย เขาได้รางวัลชนะเลิศโทนี่ อวอร์ด ของบอร์ดเวย์ ในฐานะนักแสดงชายยอดเยี่ยม ประเภทเพลง ในเรื่อง "Cabaret."
