:: ประวัติย่อ :: เคิร์สเตน ดันสท์ ได้สร้างสรรค์ผลงานอันเป็นที่น่าประทับใจ จนอาจมีใครเข้าใจผิดว่าเป็นผลงานของนักแสดงผู้คร่ำหวอดวงการในฮอลลีวูด แม้ว่าจริง ๆ แล้ว ความสามารถของเธอจะจัดได้ว่า เข้าขั้นดาราที่มีประสบการณ์ด้านการแสดงสูง แต่คำกล่าวเกี่ยวกับตัวเธอที่ว่า “เก๋า” หรือ “คร่ำหวอด” ในวงการ อาจทำให้จินตนาการของใคร ๆ หลายคนเกี่ยวกับตัวเธอ ผิดจากความเป็นจริงไป เพราะดาราสาวผู้นี้เพิ่งลืมตาดูโลกเมื่อปี 1982 นี้เอง
เธอมีอายุเพียง 7 ขวบตอนที่เริ่มอาชีพนักแสดง โดยประสบความสำเร็จจากการปรากฏตัวในหนังเรื่อง New York Stories เธอมีงานเข้ามาอย่างต่อเนื่องและสม่ำเสมอ ทั้งงานโฆษณา, ละคร, โทรทัศน์ และภาพยนตร์ ในปี 1994 เคิร์สเตนประสบความสำเร็จไปอีกขั้น จากหนัง Little Women และ Interview with the Vampire ของแอน ไรซ์ สิ่งที่น่าทึ่งไม่ใช่อยู่ที่บทบาทการแสดงของเธอเท่านั้น เพราะว่าเธอได้ยังแสดงร่วมกับดาราแม่เหล็กฮอลลีวูดหลายคน ทั้ง ทอม ครูซ และ แบรด พิตต์ ใน Interview with the Vampire หลังจากนั้น เธอยังได้ร่วมแสดงกับดาราชายชื่อดังกระฉ่อนอีก ในหนังครอบครัวเรื่อง Jumanji ที่ทำให้เธอได้ประชันบทกับดาราเจ้าของรางวัลออสการ์ ที่บ้า ๆ บอ ๆ อย่าง โรบิน วิลเลียมส์
เคิร์สเตนเพิ่มความหนักแน่นให้กับประวัติการทำงานอันยอดเยี่ยมของเธอ ด้วยการร่วมพากย์เสียงให้กับหนังแอนิเมชั่นเรื่อง Anatasia ของดิสนีย์ แล้วการร่วมแสดงในหนังที่เป็นประเด็นให้ถกเถียงกันพอสมควร เรื่อง Wag The Dog ซึ่งเธอได้ร่วมแสดงกับสองดาราผู้ยิ่งใหญ่อย่าง ดัสติน ฮอฟแมน และ โรเบิร์ต เดอนิโร พอจบจากงานหนังเรื่องนี้ เธอก็ออกเดทกับ เจค ลูกชายของ ฮอฟแมน
ปี 1999 เป็นปีที่ผู้ชมได้เห็นพรสวรรค์ของเคิร์สเตนอย่างเด่นชัดขึ้น เธอประสบความสำเร็จจากการ ในการแสดงในหนังเบาสมองเรื่อง Dick และ Drop Dead Gorgeous ตลอดจนหนังเรียกน้ำตาอย่าง The Virgin Suicides ความนิยมในตัวของดันสท์ไม่มีท่าทีจะแผ่วลงเลย เพราะเธอยังได้รับบทต่าง ๆ ในหนังที่ได้รับความนิยมอีกอย่างต่อเนื่อง รวมถึงหนังเกี่ยวกับเชียร์ลีดเดอร์เรื่อง Bring It On ที่ต้องเรียกความสนใจจากคุณได้อย่างแน่นอน หรืออย่างน้อยก็ต้องเรียกรอยยิ้มจากคุณได้
ล่าสุด ดันสท์ยังได้แสดงนำในหนังฟอร์มยักษ์อีกเรื่อง คือ Spider-Man โดยเธอประกบคู่กับ โทบีย์ แม็คไกวร์ ผู้มารับบทเป็นซูเปอร์ฮีโร่ ไอ้แมงมุม และร่วมกันทำให้หนังเรื่องนี้เข้าทำเนียบหนังทำเงินแห่งปีไปอีกเรื่อง
