ประวัติย่อ ด้วยวัยเพียง 20 ปี เอไลจาห์ วูด ได้กลายเป็นเพชรน้ำเอก แห่งวงการภาพยนตร์ ได้อย่างน่าอัศจรรย์ ในช่วงทศวรรษ 1990s หนุ่มหน้าใส ดวงตาสีฟ้าผู้นี้ ได้รับการยอมรับอย่างสูงว่า เป็นนักแสดงเด็กที่มุมานะ และมีความสามารถมากที่สุดคนหนึ่ง และทุกวันนี้ เขายังคงได้รับการยอมรับมากขึ้นเรื่อย ๆ และพัฒนาฝีมือของตนเองอย่างต่อเนื่อง
เอไลจาห์ วูด เริ่มเข้าวงการบันเทิงด้วยการถ่ายแบบ และก้าวสู่งานโฆษณาทางโทรทัศน์อย่างรวดเร็ว จนเริ่มเข้าตาคนวงในฮอลลีวูดไม่นานหลังจากนั้น เขาเริ่มแสดงเป็นตัวประกอบในหนังต่าง ๆ ในบทเด็ก เช่นใน Back to the Future II (1989) และ Internal Affairs (1990) เป็นต้น ผลงานของเขาเริ่มเป็นที่สะดุดตา เมื่อได้ร่วมแสดงหนังครอบครัวของ แบร์รี่ เลวินสัน เกี่ยวกับผู้ที่อพยพเข้าไปอยู่ในประเทศสหรัฐอเมริกา ในเรื่อง Avalon (1990) ถัดมาอีก 2 ปี เขาปรากฏตัวในบทนำ ในเรื่อง Radio Flyer ซึ่งเขาแสดงเป็นเด็กที่ถูกทารุณกรรม ในปี 1993 เขาแสดงนำในเรื่อง The Adventures of Huck Finn ของ ดีสนีย์ และได้ร่วมแสดงบทประกอบที่สำคัญ ในหนังรางวัลออสการ์เรื่อง Witness ตลอดจนรับบทเป็นเด็กชาวยิวที่ตามหลอกหลอนทหารนาซี ที่เป็นผู้นำเด็กไปรมแก๊สในเรื่อง Showtime 30-Minute Movie
นับจากนั้น เส้นทางการเป็นนักแสดงของวูดจึงเริ่มติดลมบน เขาแสดงนำคู่กับ แมคอว์ลีย์ คัลกิ้น ในหนังตื่นเต้นแนวจิตวิทยา เรื่อง The Good Son (1993) ในปีถัดมา เขารับบทเป็นเด็กที่พยายามเสาะหาพ่อแม่ที่ดีกว่าที่มีอยู่ ในหนังเบาสมองสนุกสนานของ ร็อบ ไรเนอร์ เรื่อง North จากนั้น ร่วมงานกับ เควิน คอสต์เนอร์ ในหนังวัยรุ่นเรื่อง The War (1994) แล้วไปแสดงนำเป็นเด็กวัยรุ่นมีปัญหา ที่กลายเป็นเพื่อนกับปลาโลมา ในเรื่อง Flipper (1996) ในผลงานเรื่องถัดจากนั้น เขาร่วมงานกับทีมนักแสดงชั้นยอด และผู้กำกับชั้นเยี่ยมอย่าง อั้งลี่ ในเรื่อง The Ice Storm (1997) และยังร่วมแสดงฝีมือได้อย่างน่าชื่นชมใน Deep Impact และ The Faculty (1998 ทั้งสองเรื่อง) ผลงานล่าสุดของเขา เป็นหนังฟอร์มยักษ์เรื่อง The Lord of the Rings ที่ถ่ายทำรวดเดียวถึง 3 ภาค โดยวูดรับบทนำเป็น โฟรโด แบ็กกินส์
